NCFE Functional Skills in Mathematics Level 2
This Level 2 Functional Skills course in maths will help you develop the practical skills you need to use mathematics in life, study and work.
It will strengthen your knowledge and equip you with a maths toolkit to aid you throughout real-life situations.
Equivalent to GCSE Maths, you gain knowledge and understanding of practical maths skills that are applicable to various everyday contexts and situations.
About this qualification:
The purpose of Functional Skills Mathematics Entry Level qualifications is to demonstrate a sound grasp of the underpinning skills and basics of mathematical skills appropriate to the level, and the ability to apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations.
It is suitable for a wide range of individuals and is fundamental to the successful completion of various wider qualifications and frameworks, such as Foundation Learning, the Diploma and Apprenticeships.

For learners looking to become confident in their use of fundamental mathematical knowledge and skills.
Functional Skills qualifications support learners to demonstrate their understanding by applying their knowledge and skills to solve simple mathematical problems or carry out simple tasks.
There are no pre-entry requirements for this qualification and no minimum age requirement has been set for registration.
It is recommended that you have an intermediate ability to read and write English and learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
The controlled assessment is divided into 2 sections:
- Section A: The non-calculator section
- Section B: The calculator section
