Our courses are designed for all levels who want to improve their English, with lots of time to relax and explore outside of the classroom and experience the British culture and language.
We focus on the four key language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking with work on grammar and pronunciation.
Our courses suit many who enjoy the opportunity to learn with others,meet new people and improve their English at the same time.
We offer the following courses:
- General English 15 lessons (mornings)
- General English 25 lessons
WHEN CAN I START MY COURSE?
Students can join our school on any Monday, and can study as long as they wish.
Some students study for as little as one week, some for one year or more. It simply depends on the student and his/her needs.
GROUP LEARNING
Our classes are small, with a maximum of 15 students. At lower and higher levels, there are often only 8 – 10 students per class.
*Academic hours: each academic hour = 50 minutes class time.
WHAT IS THE AGE OF STUDENTS?
All of the students in our General English and Intensive English courses are 18 years and over.
We have a mix of professional, undergraduate, graduates and gap year students, who come to our college to learn the language and experience the British culture in one of the most fascinating cities in the world.
We have many professionals who have come from around the world to join our courses each year. Our inclusive approach and layout of the school mean that everyone feels welcome and at home.

Every year students from many different countries come to join our English courses and Summer Schools.

- A0 (Beginner)
- A1 (Elementary)
- A2 (Pre-Intermediate)
- B1 (Intermediate)
- B2 (Upper Intermediate)
- B2E (Upper Intermediate exam class)
- C1 (Advanced)
- C2 (Proficiency)
SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Aside from learning English we know that our students would like to get to know Oxford. All CCO students can enjoy and learn about English culture and the history and contemporary culture that the city of Oxford offers.
We have a programme of different activities and events according to the time of year. This includes organised visits to local places of interest, social gatherings in historic hostelries and restaurants, visits to museums and galleries, music and poetry, theatre, picnics and games in the parks and meadows and much more.
DAY TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS
It is very easy to get to London from Oxford. We include visits to other places such as Bicester Village Shopping and Blenheim Palace as well as different sights, activities and events in London.
Anyone is welcome to join in and details are provided when students register.
TIMETABLES
Lessons are Monday to Friday, although it is also possible for some students to study part-time.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
- You will develop your range of vocabulary and accurate use of grammar and increase confidence in communicating in English.
- Teachers will use materials including digital resources and course books that help motivate students and encourage learning.
- To use your English outside of the classroom with our Social Programme, Conversation Club and other social clubs.
Speaking
- Increase vocabulary and fluency through practice with your teacher and classmates
- Improve pronunciation through use of phonetics.
- Feel comfortable to build confidence in speaking in a friendly learning environment.
Listening
- Regular formal listening practice boosts development of this key skill
- Listen to different English voices in different contexts.
Reading
- Use texts from a wide range of sources and authentic material to progress your reading ability.
- Students are encouraged to bring reading matter that interests them and that they can share with others.
Writing
- Grammar and spelling practice are vital to enable our students to write good English especially for those who aim to do on to use English for academic studies or professionally.
We support student learning in different ways:
- Adapting courses for the needs and level of students each class.
- Provision of regular individual tutorials with your teacher help you to achieve your learning goals.
All new students are asked to complete our placement test or are tested on their first morning in the school so that we can put you in the class at the right level to develop.
