The City College Oxford presents the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management, with the primary objective of cultivating practical teaching skills in learners and preparing them for diverse educational and training settings.
Over the academic years, learners will engage with Level 4 and 5 units, accumulating 120 credits per year and culminating in a total credit value of 240 credits – equivalent to the initial two years of an honours degree.
Level 4 units serve as an introduction to pertinent education and training principles and practices. These units encompass both theoretical and practical content, empowering learners to acquire knowledge and skills in education and training program design, learner engagement, as well as planning, monitoring, and evaluating their work. Emphasis is placed on the significance of self-reflection, identification of learning needs, and professional development.
Moving to Level 5 units, learners have the opportunity to advance in specific subject areas. Here, they will refine their knowledge and skills in learning and assessment, behaviour management, learning and communication, concepts of lifelong learning, resource planning and management, leadership, and continued professional development.
It’s essential to note that while the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Education and Training Management does not qualify learners for QTLS or recognized teacher status, it equips them with the knowledge and skills essential for a teaching role. The qualification serves as a valuable preparation for a career in education and training.
OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma qualifications represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme.
