The City College Oxford presents the OTHM Level 4 Certificate in Learning, Development, and Pedagogy—a teaching qualification with a mandatory teaching/training practice component. The primary aim of the OTHM Level 4 Certificate in Learning, Development, and Pedagogy at City College Oxford is to equip learners with the essential knowledge, understanding, and skills to enhance their proficiency in learning program development, resource creation, and subject-specific pedagogy. This encompasses the planning and delivery of schemes of work and sessions, negotiation of individual goals, utilization of diverse teaching and learning strategies, addressing communication challenges, and the continuous development and evaluation of one’s pedagogical practices within their chosen subject area.
The OTHM Level 4 Certificate in Learning, Development and Pedagogy qualification consists of 5 mandatory units, 36 credits, 360 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and the recommended Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for this qualification is a minimum of 125 hours.

At City College Oxford, our qualification is structured to span a full academic year for those pursuing full-time study, yet we also offer flexibility to accommodate part-time and distance learning options.
Our delivery methods include face-to-face sessions, lectures, tutorials, seminars, as well as distance and online learning, all facilitated exclusively by approved centres.
The assessment and verification process involves a comprehensive approach. All units within the qualification undergo assessment and internal quality assurance by our centre, followed by external verification by OTHM. Emphasizing criterion referencing, our qualifications are centred on achieving specified learning outcomes.
For a ’pass’ in a unit, learners are required to present evidence showcasing fulfilment of all learning outcomes and adherence to assessment criteria standards. The assessor plays a crucial role in making judgments on whether learners have successfully met these criteria.
To ensure transparency, specific assessment guidance and relevant marking criteria for each unit are promptly provided in the Assignment Brief document upon learner registration. Additionally, assessors are expected to maintain an audit trail, outlining the process leading to the determination of learners’ overall achievement.
