Why study the International Year One?
The International Year One (IY1) is the perfect pathway if you want an undergraduate degree from a university but do not meet the requirements for direct entry.
The IY1 course provides an intensive combination of first year university subject modules with English language skills.
Following successful completion of the IY1, you will continue onto your second-year degree study, directly with the university of your choice.
The International Year One (IY1) is an intensive undergraduate program for overseas students that combines first-year university academics with English language and study skills. Equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree in the UK, it allows you to progress directly into the second year upon successful completion.

Key Features of the Program

- Academic Entry: Generally requires the equivalent of UK A-Levels, or completion of the first year of an overseas university degree with good marks.
- English Language: Usually requires an Academic IELTS score of 5.5 overall (with no band lower than 5.5) or equivalent.
- Age: Students typically need to be at least 17 or 18 years old to start the program
