The GA Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is designed to develop the practical teaching skills of learners and prepare them for teaching or training roles within a wide range of post-16 educational and training contexts. This qualification requires observation and assessment of teaching practice, ensuring learners gain real-world experience in planning, delivering, and assessing learning.
This Level 4 Certificate provides a comprehensive foundation for understanding the key principles of teaching and training, including curriculum planning, learner assessment, resource management, and specialist teaching techniques. Learners will also develop the skills needed to manage diverse learning environments, engage learners effectively, and demonstrate professional competence in educational settings.
Upon completion of the GA Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, learners will gain proficiency in the following areas:

This qualification prepares learners for employment as a teacher or trainer in post-16 education and training or progression to higher-level teaching qualifications, such as the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
The GA Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training consists of 5 mandatory units and optional units for further development, totalling 36 credits, 140 Guided Learning Hours (GLH), and 360 Total Qualification Time (TQT).
Mandatory Units:

- Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training (3 credits)
- Delivering education and training (6 credits)
- Assessing learners in education and training (6 credits)
- Using resources for education and training (3 credits)
Optional Units (examples):
- Action Research (15 credits)
- Delivering Employability Skills (6 credits)
- Inclusive Practice (15 credits)
- Developing Learning and Development Programmes (6 credits)
- Teaching in a Specialist Area (15 credits)
Learners select optional units to meet the total credit requirements while enhancing skills in specialist areas of teaching and learning.
This qualification is currently delivered via online , providing a flexible learning model suitable for learners balancing work, teaching, or other commitments. Full tutor support and guidance are provided, with all course materials and assessments accessible remotely.
Assessment
Learners are assessed through a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievement of all learning outcomes for each unit. This qualification is assessed as Pass or Fail only.
Resubmission Policy
Learners who do not achieve a Pass on their first attempt may resubmit work. Gatehouse Awards allows up to two resubmissions per assessment task.
