The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is meticulously crafted to enhance your professional competencies, fostering a positive impact on your organization while fostering publishable-level research. This program is uniquely structured to empower you with essential academic skills that complement your existing professional expertise. The emphasis on research training is a core element, offering you valuable transferable skills in areas such as research methods, report writing, academic publishing, conference presentations, and personal effectiveness.
Distinguished as a professional doctorate, the DBA is purposefully designed to create an original contribution to professional practice. This is achieved through a robust engagement with management theory and a targeted independent research initiative addressing a specific ’research problem’ within your professional domain.
Given the exclusivity of this program, with only 30 available spots, admissions will be prioritized based on acceptance. Successful applicants will secure a place, while others will be placed on a waiting list. To ensure consideration, we recommend submitting your online application by the end of March, as availability beyond this date cannot be guaranteed.
The DBA is structured in a way that allows you to develop the necessary academic skills to complement your existing professional skills set. Stage 1 consists of two 30 credit modules over one year. Stage 2 consists of primary research, based on your preceding work, over three years.
· Stage 1 - Taught component
- Advanced Professional Practice Research Problem and Theory
- Advanced Research Methods in a Business Context
· Stage 2 - Research component
- Research Proposal Approval
- Upgrade of Registration
- The Thesis and Viva
The delivery of modules and ongoing support in this program is facilitated through workshops. In the initial year, you will participate in full-day workshops for each module, spanning one week per module. Following this, workshops will transition to an online format via Canvas.
Alternatively, you have the option to engage in all workshops entirely online, eliminating the need to physically attend the campus.
Canvas serves as a comprehensive platform, granting candidates access to a myriad of resources vital for their development. This encompasses academic databases, links to external websites, and research software. Moreover, Canvas functions as a communication tool, fostering interaction between candidates and staff. It streamlines the electronic submission of work for formal assessment and facilitates prompt feedback from academic staff.
The significance of supervision and its impact on the successful completion of doctoral-level studies cannot be overstated. Hence, your supervisory team will be established at the program’s outset, integrated into your study plan. Mentors will be designated during stage 1, with the supervisory team forming during stage 2. This ongoing supervisory support remains integral throughout and beyond the completion of the taught modules.
